Two Pillars of this YTT

Ayurvedic Psychology 

Apply your understanding of the layers of your body (koshas), your elemental energetics (doshas), and energy centers (chakras) to create balance where you've lost alignment in life. Learn to somatically process childhood trauma (emotions and thoughts) stored in the body. Create resilience in your nervous system through pranayama and self-care practices. And develop a self-inquiry (jnana yoga) practice to examine beliefs, shadow qualities and patterns so you can continue your path of awakening.

Once established, learn to mentor others through Ayurvedic wellbeing and transformation practices by taking them through your 8-week offering.

Meditation Teachings

Learn the Vedic practice of yogic meditation, and develop a daily practice (sadhana) to support your inner spiritual development. We teach you to prepare your consciousness through yamas/niyamas (guidelines for living), pratyahara and dharana (going within the spine and directing life force control up the spine). Building focus to direct prana within the energy channels (nadis) to summon the kundalini shakti up the spine for third-eye awakening.​ Once your practice is established, go deep into the bliss of Divine connection and reach for union (samadhi). Then, learn to help others create a spiritual and meditation practice directed by Putanjali's Yoga Sutras.

Our 300hr YTT is dedicated to true and authentic yoga with spiritual, energetic, and mental/emotional teachings from Paramahansa Yogananda to his students. You have the option to choose to enter his sacred spiritual lineage (lessons are ordered and sent from Yogananda's SRF/ashram), or reference Yogananda's Bhagavad Gita as the guide. Either way, Yogananda's teachings honor and amplify your own spiritual and religious beliefs so you can walk your unique yogic path.

Regular meditations and Gita teachings are delivered through a team of modern, trauma-informed, neurodivergence-friendly, down-to earth and easily relatable teachers who have been on their spiritual path for decades... they haven't lost their sense of humor or the current reality of societal challenges facing us today.

What is Yoga Psychology?

Yoga is defined as calming the waves of the mind to "yoke" the soul to Source

While modern practice focuses on postures and exercise, the true purpose of yoga is to prepare the body, energy channels, and mind for meditation so that we can merge into higher consciousness, which is where true peace and happiness arise.

 

Psychology ​translates to "the study of the soul"

While the origin of the word is to study the soul of a human, modern psychology shifted the focus from the soul to the mind. We are taught to analyze the mind with the mind. Modern psychology is just starting to move beyond the mind and give insight to address root cause:
  • trauma is stored in the body (Body Keeps the Score, B. van der Kolk)
  • stored trauma can be processed somatically (Somatic Experiencing, Peter Levine)
  • there are fragments of our self that need integration (Internal Family Systems, R. Schwartz)
  • our shadow aspects keeps us from our true nature (Pain Body, Eckart Tolle)
  • the nervous system is stuck in a state of dysregulation (Polyvagal theory, Porges)
  • habits of thought and behavior shape our personality (Bruce Lipton, Joe Dispenza)

Yoga Psychology is the practice of achieving mental and emotional wellbeing by leveraging modern psychology insight and practices alongside practicing the eightfold path of yoga, specifically through:
  • alignment of the spine (yoga postures that create balance in doshas),
  • redirection of the flow of prana (breathwork according to dosha and chakra imbalances),
  • balancing mental and emotional patterns (somatic processing, nervous system regulation, self-awareness)
  • living in authentic alignment with our nature (lifestyle and introspection practices for consciousness),
  • training the mind with disciplined awareness (neutralizing duality, creating focus),
  • cultivating higher states of awareness (meditation practices), and
  • experiencing union with higher consciousness (bliss, truth, and higher states).

All of our trainers (Yoga Alliance E-RYT) and faculty are Inner Alignment certified Level 3 Soul Retrieval Healers, which means that they are highly skilled at holding a sacred container for those who are healing childhood trauma stored in the body. They hold space that is safe, grounded, authentic and nourishing. While group mentorship may not be the place to address personal trauma, please know that this container is held by knowledgeable and compassionate trauma practitioners...a skillful group of strong, smart, sassy, and capable women.

On her yogic path for over 25 years, Kim Beekman has brought advanced healing and yogic practices to thousands of students for over 15 years through YTTs, coach/healer Certifications, and service-based meditation offerings. She is 500hr YTT trained, an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor trained at the Shivananda Ashram, and an initiate in both the Paramahansa Yogananda Kriya Yoga Meditation lineage and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Transcendental Meditation lineage. With a focus in Ayurvedic Psychology, Kim started the Inner Alignment (IA) Yoga School, IA Healing Programs, and the IA Foundation. She authored Awaken Your Potency and Inner Alignment Soul Retrieval for Healing Childhood Trauma, and produced a spiritual YouTube channel and  Trauma Podcast. While she has had the opportunity to study with extraordinary teachers, the most profound lessons have come from mothering her 3 daughters alongside her husband of 27 years in Southern California.

Misty Lamppa is a seasoned yoga teacher with over 15 years of experience leading yoga classes, retreats, and 200hr YTTs through her thriving yoga studio in Minnesota. As a former collegiate athlete, she learned early on the value of discipline, focus, and the deep connection between mind and body... lessons that naturally led her to the practice of yoga. Over the years, that practice has become both her path and her offering: a way to guide others toward remembering who they truly are. Misty is a graduate of CorePower Yoga’s 200-hour YTT, Yoga Farm’s 300-hour Kundalini YTT, and Inner Alignment Level 3 Soul Retrieval Healer Certification. Rooted in compassion and authenticity, her teaching invites students to authentically embody themselves. Of all her roles, the one she cherishes the most is being a mother to four incredible children.

Drawing from deep studies in Ashtanga, Yin, Kundalini, Ayurveda, Enneagram wisdom, and lunar cycles, Rose's teachings are rooted in the Eight Limbs of Yoga, guiding students beyond the mat and into a more conscious, embodied life. With training from Kusum Institute, Yoga Farm Ithaca, and renowned teacher David Swenson, Rose creates spaces where movement becomes a path home—rich with intention, insight, and soul. She is the founder of Wild Poppy Yoga and Movement and a certified Level 3 Inner Alignment Healing Practitioner. Rose is a gifted listener, supporter, and guide on this Inner Alignment path that has faciliated her own healing, growth, and wellbeing. She holds a corporate job alongside her Inner Alignment healing program offerings... all while establishing a nourishing home life with her new husband and two children!

We're not just a Yoga School...

Kim Beekman established three distinct Inner Alignment organizations over the last 15 years:

  • Yoga School: Since 2015, the Inner Alignment Yoga School has been holding YTTs to establish a deeper inner wisdom in yoga teachers, so they can teach their students from an authentic space having done their own inner work.

  • Trauma Programs: Since 2017, Inner Alignment Healing Programs has conducted Level 1 healing programs for over 450 clients with anxiety and depression caused by childhood trauma. IA has also certified 150 Level 2 coaches, and 65 Level 3 Healers.

  • Non-profit: Since 2023, Inner Alignment Foundation has been raising funds and issuing trauma healing scholarships for those who lack the resources to pay for comprehensive healing programs.
